Welcome to MarineLab Undersea Park & Museum, Home of Jules’ Undersea Lab, where marine science, underwater exploration and living history come together in one remarkable place.

Our story reaches back more than 50 years to the pioneering days of undersea research. The habitat now known as Jules’ Undersea Lab began its life as La Chalupa, a working saturation research laboratory in Puerto Rico in the 1970s. After being relocated to Key Largo, it became Jules’ Undersea Lodge, introducing thousands of divers to the extraordinary experience of living beneath the sea. Today, as Jules’ Undersea Lab, it continues that legacy through public dive experiences, Aquanaut Missions, education, scientific research and special missions.

Adjacent to the public Undersea Park & Museum, the MarineLab Environmental Science Education Campus welcomes students and educators from across the United States and the Caribbean for immersive marine science programs ranging from virtual learning and single-day experiences to multi-day and week-long programs.

At the public MarineLab Undersea Park & Museum, that history is not simply displayed. It can be experienced. Explore our outdoor museum and climb inside the historic MarineLab Undersea Laboratory, once an operational underwater habitat. Discover artifacts connected to La Chalupa, underwater research and technology, and visit the indoor Legacy of Ian Koblick Exhibit, located through our public gift shop.

Then take your experience into the water. Snorkel with one of MarineLab’s marine science educators, train or earn your SCUBA certification with your own dive professional in Jules’ Lagoon, join a guided dive and enter Jules’ Undersea Lab for a tour, or go even farther and spend 24 hours living beneath the surface on a Jules’ Aquanaut Mission.

The tradition of exploration continues through research and science missions as well. Universities, scientific teams and educational organizations can use Jules’ Undersea Lab and its unique environment for diving and hyperbaric research, space-analog research and training, marine science and other specialized projects.
