Snorkel with a Marine Biologist

See the Sea Through Expert Eyes: Snorkel With a Marine Biologist!

Learn more about the ecology and inhabitants of our mangrove lagoon and its relationship to a healthy reef ecosystem. We will begin by getting an up close (and hands on!) view at some of the critters to be on the lookout for during the snorkel. After gearing up (snorkel gear and instructions are available if needed), participants are guided by our marine biologist staff in our lagoon. After the snorkel, if group is still up for some more science, we will use microscopes to take a closer look at the critters that live in the lagoon that you can't see while snorkeling.

Our marine biologist guide will be with you every fin stroke, every step, every peek under a piling to help you find and identify marine creatures!  From tiny seahorses to gentle giant manatees, our lagoon is host to a variety of sea creatures including many reef fish.   We can't guarantee WHICH ones you'll see, but we CAN guarantee you'll see something you've never seen before!

Visit the ONLY underwater habitat open to the public!

Our guide will lead you on an exploration of the Emerald Lagoon, including its marine artifacts, before bringing you into Jules’ Undersea Lab. After rinsing off, you’ll get the tour of the undersea habitat, including its history and current uses. We are happy to bring your cell phone down to the Lab for you, because you’ll want that selfie!

This tour is an excellent way to fill in a blank spot in your dive vacation, or as an alternative to a blown-out reef dive.
